"Living Water", and "The Way of the Master", a false doctrine?
Warning - This false teaching is creeping in to churches, maybe yours.
This week I am focusing on the increasingly popular method of presentation that is creeping into many churches. I feel it is important that you realize how dangerous it is.
I was visiting a fundamental Baptist Church one Sunday and noticed some small curved cards that presented an optical illusion to the viewer on one side and and on the reverse side was a presentation of the Gospel. But that presentation was perverted. At the end of the statement on the back of the card two it says " Today, repent (confess and turn from your sin) and trust in Jesus Christ. Then read the Bible daily, and obey it. God will never fail you. This is false and the teaching is not supported by Scripture.
This method of using the law as a tool for preaching the Gospel is just another "method" which sounds so good. Think about that statement. It does not matter that the Gospel is perverted, only that it slick the way it is presented.
The way of the Master, a Ray Comfort production also has a series of tapes or instructional videos they sell. Ray Comfort has other material that tells the reader to repent (Turned from his sins, and get right with God). Where in the Bible do we find that.
This is a quote from an article written by Ray Comfort. About salvation he says, "You must turn from sin, and your faith must be in Jesus Christ alone. He is the only “grounds” for God to grant mercy towards you. If you're not sure of your salvation, make Psalm 51 your own prayer."
I will not take your time to list the hundreds of examples why he, Ray Comfort is so off base. I will only address some very obvious points that he perverts. First, no where, And I mean no where in the Bible does it say that you have to "turn from your sins" to be saved. Second, in Psalm 51 David was already saved, not saying a prayer to be saved.
Ray Comfort uses the Ten Commandments to show unbelievers that they are not right with God. Well Abraham believed God and it was before the law was given. We sin because we are sinners, we do not become sinners because we sin. The Gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation not the devices or presentation of men. Without the power of the Holy Spirit we work in vain. Prayer (By us), Preaching the Gospel(With the power of the Spirit), Salvation (By faith alone), and then Believers Baptism.
Next week I will cover some other false doctrinal statements made by Ray Comfort, and the terrible truth about the "The Way of The Master" program he is spreading in the churches and on the Internet.

Dear Pastor, why not pray, and use the Bible to present the Gospel? It may sound a little old fashioned but that is the Bible way. When will we learn that without the power of God we are powerless.
